Notes from the Artist
I wrote Deep Waters because I wanted a piece that embodied the "heart" of the healing practice in massage as well as the other effective characteristics of psychoacoustic music. I also wanted a composition that incorported the healing vibrational aspect of my massage practice. Deep Waters has some very special low-frequency characteristics that can be used in special sound therapy tables and chairs, or even subwoofers and bass speakers of home stereo systems. Deep Waters calls out to your parasympathetic response -- your own inner healing physician -- and submerges you into the envelope of an immense love from which we all come.
Thus, Deep Waters is all about that journey. By using the voice talents of the London Symphony Choir, I combined their intonations of "ah's" and "oh's" in a flowing, ever changing ambient soundscape. These vowel sounds have some very profound properties, especially when combined with a meditative practice or chanted and intoned in your own resonate voice. They open your heart and expand your spirit. They allow you to deeply connect with the ground of your own being where you can find peace and rest. This is important for us to do lest we forget that we can experience great comfort and beauty each and every day.
There is more to Deep Waters, but I invite you to find out for yourself. Be drawn in, to yourself, to the universe which birthed you into being and live.
Namaste,
For the Technically Curious
I wrote and composed Deep Waters using a variety of MIDI hardware and software. It is absolutely amazing what we can do with these silicon life forms we quaintly refer to as "computers". :) The graphics and CD artwork were done by a very warm-hearted and talented graphic artist and friend, Lawrence Stewart (www.lawrencestewart.net). If you need graphics work, he's the person to contact!
Here is a snapshot of the main audio tools that went into the making of Deep Waters.

Plogue Bidule
Plogue Bidule is a modular music programming environment. This is the main development environment for all of my sound and music projects. Pictured to the left are one of the "binauralized instruments" I created to induce the entrainment effect. Notice that the left and right channels have a slightly different note going to each ear.
